What Are Your Distractions?
Sometimes we have distractions that keep us from focusing on The Word Of God. It could either be our cellphones, notifications, text messages, our minds thinking about food, paying bills, what needs to be done, studying in the wrong location, etc. Whatever the case, distractions hinder our focus and our peace; especially when tuning in to God’s Word and receiving something from Him through His Word.
How Do We Eliminate Distractions?
One thing that helps for sure is to identify them. So when you begin to pray or read God’s Word, know ahead of time that you will silence your notifications. If you have to put everything on silent mode, turn off your devices or even put them into another room.. That will eliminate any interference with your time with God.
Note: Sometimes It’s better to use a paper Bible than your electronic device, phone, tablet, laptop or computer when spending time with God. This will certainly eliminate the need to check IG, your emails or log on to the internet.
Another thing that helps is to plan a secret place; where you know for certain that you will have some quiet time. Of course it’s not a blessing to study and commune with God in an environment where babies are crying or playing, in an environment where the television is on, in your car parked on a busy street or next to a highway. It’s best to get alone and find a place where you can peacefully and quietly meditate and enjoy what you’re reading and dive into the stories on those pages and speak to God without distractions. What Are Your Distractions?
Final Thoughts
If You Struggle with Distractions, Try to eat first; Or, If you’re fasting.. get a big glass of water, get your Paper Bible ready, Figure out what to do with your phone, laptop and other devices (which you can extend your study and research later) plan a secret place to be alone for a bit and allow yourself to have peaceful vibes, so there is no interruption in your time with God. Pay attention to all of your distractions and begin to eliminate them one by one, until you have perfect peace. In Jesus’s Name!
